AI Maturity Assessment
A framework for assessing where an organization stands on AI, across eight strategic dimensions or eleven business functions.
Most maturity models pick one lens and apply it to the whole organization. A CTO and an HR director are not answering the same question, so this one offers both and lets you choose.
Background
Ask a leadership team how mature their AI capability is and you often get a vague answer. Because we don't know. There's no shared frame to guess against, so the optimist and the skeptic in the room are both right about different parts of the same organization.
This is that frame. It gives an executive team a common vocabulary, a score they can point at, and a picture of which parts are ahead and which are holding everything else back.
How it works
You choose a lens first. Eight strategic dimensions cut across the whole organization: Strategy and Leadership, Data, Technology and Infrastructure, People and Talent, Culture and Change Management, Governance and Responsible AI, Use Cases and Value Realization, and Security and Operations. Eleven business functions take the other view, from Engineering, Product and IT through Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, Finance, HR, Legal and Communications.
Then a length: a six-minute Express run, or fifteen minutes for the Comprehensive one. Questions come one section at a time and progress is saved as you go, so it survives the interruption that usually kills a fifteen-minute questionnaire.
Answers map to one of five maturity levels, from Initial through Developing, Defined, and Managed to Optimized. The report gives an overall score, a radar chart across the lens you picked, and the strengths and gaps under each heading. It can be shared, which is the point: the value is in a leadership team arguing about one picture instead of eight private opinions.
Technology
A hosted web app. Assessment progress and saved reports persist, so a run can be paused, resumed, and shared. The build stack is being revisited as the assessment moves off its first working version.
How it was built
Spec-first: the dimensions, the functions, the maturity definitions, and the scoring were written down before any build started, because those are the product. The questionnaire around them is the easy part. The current version came out of a fast first build; the production one is still ahead.
